The Language In Group are pioneers in their field: the Language in London school was the first in the world to win a British Council prize for innovation in English teaching. They wanted to create classrooms that reflected their commitment to the total learning experience: innovative teaching in an exciting and welcoming environment that offers a home from home for overseas students. Our solution has helped them break into new markets and win new clients, with the returns enabling them to schedule similar refurbishments at their other sites. Flexibility was key: our solution had to adapt to the different size rooms across the five floors of the school's traditional London townhouse, plus it had to be suitable for rolling out to the Group's other schools housed in buildings of diverse styles. Working with the interior designer, we devised a scheme that injected personality while delivering on functionality and budget. We chose ranges - such as the sofas and chairs - that can work in any environment, are highly durable and are available in a number of colours to create distinct rooms. Investment was made in pieces that made an impact, such as the striking wallpaper, or that needed to meet ergonomic considerations, such as the chairs; savings were delivered by choosing tables that met the design and functionality criteria cost effectively. The design was adapted to meet the requirements of the different spaces: sofas were used in the attic rooms with restricted headroom to create less formal learning zones. The success of the scheme means we are now planning the refurbishments of the group's Dublin and Totnes schools.
Collaborate did a great job in finding a range of eye-catching and flexible products, which perfectly met the School's design brief and the result is one we are all proud of and will gladly roll out to the other schools. We wanted to create inspiring classrooms that reflect the Schools personality, embrace new technology and are durable enough to last and Collaborate expertly assisted us in achieving this goal. We very much look forward to working with them again!
